Sandy Ruffin spent 10 years working to complete a BFA in Painting & Drawing, after which she promptly moved to New York, stating “that’s where artists live”. She spent the next 10 years telling herself that making art wasn’t that important as she worked to make ends meet in IT companies, art supply stores, philanthropic organizations and teaching kitchens. Eventually she bought a ready made gelatin printing plate, which allowed her to stop taking herself so seriously and just make some damn art.
